What to expect
The airport sits on the flat east side of the island next to Monolithos. The first minutes run past the airport villages and the vineyards around Messaria, then the road climbs to the ridge and meets the caldera road at Fira. From there it follows the rim north through Firostefani and Imerovigli. The caldera is on your left for the last part, and on a clear evening the driver slows down for the view before the road drops into Oia.
Oia's centre is pedestrian. The car stops at the bus square area on the main road, which is the closest point to the village a car can reach. From there the driver walks with you and the bags to the hotel entrance when it is within a few minutes on foot; for houses deeper in the village a porter from the hotel usually meets you at the square.
Summer changes the timing. Between June and September the road through Imerovigli and the approach to Oia slow down in the late afternoon, when the sunset crowd arrives, and the same drive can take 10 minutes longer. A night landing is the opposite: the road is empty and the price is the same.
Two people with two suitcases fit the saloon. Five or more passengers, or a family with a pram and a pile of bags, take the van, which has a proper luggage bay.

Good to know
- Give us your flight number when you book. The driver follows the flight and the first 60 minutes of waiting after landing are free.
- Oia is closed to cars. Tell us the hotel name and the driver stops at the closest point the road allows and carries the bags in.
- Two people with two suitcases fit the saloon. From the fifth passenger, or with a pram and many bags, book the van.
- Landing after 22:00 costs the same as landing at noon. The airport road is empty at night and the drive is quicker.
Questions about this route
How long is the drive from the airport to Oia?
About 20 minutes on a normal day. In July and August the last stretch through Imerovigli and into Oia can add 10 minutes, so evening arrivals in high season should allow half an hour.
Can the taxi drive into Oia?
No. Cars stop at the bus square area on the main road, the closest a car gets. Most hotels are a few minutes on foot from there and the driver walks the bags to the door when the lane allows it.
What if my flight is delayed?
Nothing changes for you. The driver checks the flight and comes for the real landing time. Waiting is free for 60 minutes after landing, which covers passport control and the baggage belt.
Is the price per person or per car?
Per car, with VAT. €40 covers up to 4 passengers in the saloon. A group of 5 to 8 pays €55 for the van, and up to 20 people travel together in the minibus for €85.
