What to expect
Kamari sits closer to the airport than almost anywhere else on the island, on the flat ground under the eastern flank of Mesa Vouno. The drive barely leaves the plain before it reaches the resort, past the runway and the villages of Monolithos and Karterados.
Because the distance is so short, the ride rarely changes much with the time of day. The one local quirk is the promenade along the seafront, which is closed to cars, so hotels facing the beach are reached from the street behind it rather than from the front.
Two adults with the usual holiday cases take the saloon without any trouble. A larger family, or a group of five or more, needs the van, which has room for beach gear as well as luggage.
Evening flights land close enough to the resort that a night arrival barely feels different from a daytime one. The price does not change after dark, and the short drive means dinner on the promenade is still a realistic plan for the first night.

Arriving in Kamari
A ride to Kamari ends at the hotel door for hotels on the streets, or at the end of the side street nearest the promenade for hotels on the seafront, where cars are not allowed. The driver walks the bags the last stretch. From the airport the ride is about 10 minutes, from Athinios port about 15.
